Zetas share their knowledge from the stage
Thursday afternoon was a time of learning for both collegians and alumnae.
Collegiate Sessions
In the first collegiate session, Heather Matthews (Delta Kappa Chapter, Louisiana State University) shared the importance of Telling Your Story. Heather currently works for Kappa Delta Sorority as Director of Marketing and Communication.
“Every woman here knows the incredible power of being a Zeta! ZTA is where we find our people; where we learn to be true to ourselves; where we make a difference; and where we tap into our potential to Seek the Noblest in college and beyond,” Heather said. “You can have a huge impact on telling the ZTA story and marketing our sisterhood in ways that will build your personal brand, chapter brand and ZTA’s brand in the world.”
After that session, collegians broke into small groups to discuss how to Recruit the Sister by sharing their story to potential new members through values-based conversation, and how to Engage the Sister through healthy accountability that encourages members to stay in the chapter and make it stronger.
Alumnae Sessions
Alumnae members could attend three sessions after lunch. The first was Policy Perspectives: Federal Advocacy for Fraternity and Sorority Life in the Midst of a Changing Higher Education Landscape, led by Amy Davenport (Beta Delta Chapter, Miami University), who is a Policy Advisor at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP , in Washington, D.C.
Amy explored the dynamic intersection of federal policy and fraternity/sorority life within the evolving landscape of higher education. She presented actionable strategies to advance and advocate for the fraternity/ sorority experience amidst shifting trends in higher education and an increasingly partisan political environment at the federal level.
In the second session, Making Forever, alumnae joined Heather Matthews to examine why 95% of members do not stay connected to ZTA after graduation. To close out the afternoon, alumnae attended Re-Recruit the Sister to develop their own ZTA story to share during alumnae recruitment and beyond, linking their personal stories to the larger ZTA mission, purpose and values.
