Saturday morning, attendees gathered together to celebrate ZTA’s ritual, the one thing that connects us all across time and space. Leadership Consultants led the Initiation Service for Sadia H. Zapp and Christine Ward, and we remembered our sisters who have passed during this biennium with the Memorial Service.

What are you most looking forward to about joining ZTA?

Sadia: When I attended Convention two years ago to represent the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, I was so moved to see generations of women connecting over the sisterhood that ZTA provides. It touched me deeply to see the warmth between these sisters, related not by blood, but by shared values. I was a stranger, and yet tightly embraced as if I’d been attending Convention for years. I truly don’t think I’ve ever felt more welcome anywhere else.

Christine: I'm most looking forward to meeting more incredible people! I've had the privilege of getting to know several Zetas already, all of whom have been welcoming, kind, and inspiring, so I can't wait to connect with more.

What’s your favorite part of your job at BCRF?

Sadia: My favorite part of working at BCRF is the people I get to meet. I’ve met people, women and men, from all walks of life who have been impacted by breast cancer. It is truly humbling to realize that this disease does not discriminate. What has fascinated me the most is that every person diagnosed with breast cancer simply wants to help others. I’ve never met another patient who didn’t seek to make a positive difference.

Christine: My favorite part of my job at BCRF is getting to help people who are deeply passionate about the cause. It is an honor to listen when they share their personal connection to breast cancer and then find the best ways to support and amplify their fundraising initiatives.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Sadia: In my free time, I love to read and watch reality TV! I am an avid reader of all things fiction and am currently obsessed with the world of fantasy. Give me an epic story that involves magic, and I’m all in.

Christine: Living in New York City, there is always something to do. I enjoy going to Broadway shows, taking long walks around the city, getting brunch with friends, or bringing a book to Central Park and relaxing.

What’s one thing your new sisters should know about you?

Sadia: I’m shy! I often give off extrovert-energy, but I am actually really shy. So please, come say hi to me because I will otherwise hide in my turtle shell. Find me on social: @sadiahaque_dx2022

Christine: I love to travel! I went to New Orleans this year to celebrate Mardi Gras and just got back from a family trip to Scotland. Peru, New Zealand, and Antarctica are my bucket list trips for the future!

What’s something you’re looking forward to in the next year?

Sadia: I am looking forward to being a part of something larger than a single person, but strengthened by every individual member.

Christine: I just started taking Spanish classes, which has been a fun and challenging experience. I'm looking forward to diving even deeper into learning this beautiful language and hopefully getting to a point where I can hold a conversation comfortably.
